# FARIS Toolkit 1.0 — Release notes **First public release.** FARIS Toolkit is a free MEP toolkit for Autodesk Revit, designed and built by Faris (https://farisdaexplorer.com). ## Highlights - **New name: FARIS Toolkit.** The ribbon tab is still **FARIS TOOLS**, with all 66 commands in 8 panels. - **Revit 2024 and Revit 2025.** One download works with both. Revit 2025 needs the latest update (2025.5). - **Easy install.** A single installer, `FARIS_Toolkit_Setup_1.0.exe`, installs for your Windows user only, with no admin rights. Revit loads the right build for its version automatically. - **Easy uninstall.** Remove it from Windows **Settings > Apps** ("FARIS Toolkit for Revit 2024-2025") or **Start menu > FARIS Toolkit > Uninstall**. ## What's included | Panel | Commands | |---|---| | Project Setup | 12 | | MEP Modeling | 10 | | Data & Parameters | 8 | | Coordination | 8 | | QA/QC | 8 | | Documentation | 7 | | Views & Display | 6 | | Utilities | 7 (including Self-Test) | See the User Guide for what every command does. ## Changes in this release - **Installer and bundle.** The toolkit is now an Autodesk application bundle in `%AppData%\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\FarisToolkit.bundle`. You can use the installer, or unzip `FARIS_Toolkit_1.0_bundle.zip` into `%AppData%\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins`. - **New settings folder.** Settings, profiles, logs and reports are now in `%AppData%\FARIS Toolkit`. If you used a pre-release build, your files in `%AppData%\BIMMEPToolkit` are copied across automatically the first time. Log files are now named `FARIS_yyyyMMdd.log`. - **Fewer dependencies.** Settings, profiles and history are read and written by the toolkit itself, so it doesn't depend on any extra .NET library. Existing settings files still load. ## Upgrading from a pre-release build 1. Close Revit. 2. Remove the old add-in: `BIMMEPToolkit.addin` and the `BIMMEPToolkit` folder in `%AppData%\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2025`. 3. Run `FARIS_Toolkit_Setup_1.0.exe`. Your settings and profiles are copied to the new folder automatically. Models are not affected: the view parameters `BMT_Discipline` and `BMT_Purpose` keep their names. ## Install notes Public release labeling: version 1.0. Installer, bundle, packaged help and PDF now use the same public version. Use the newly published checksums for these files. - **Close Revit before installing.** - Check the file before you run it: in PowerShell, run `Get-FileHash .\FARIS_Toolkit_Setup_1.0.exe` in the folder you saved it to, and compare the result with the SHA-256 in SHA256SUMS.txt or on the download page (letter case doesn't matter). - The installer is not code-signed. A matching SHA-256 confirms the file matches this release; it does not verify the publisher's identity. If Windows blocks it or warns that the publisher is unknown, stop and check with your IT team or the publisher before proceeding. Keep Windows security protections enabled. On a company PC, obtain IT approval first. - If Revit shows an unsigned add-in warning, stop and verify the package source and your organisation's approval before allowing it to load. - SHA256 checksums for the downloads are in `SHA256SUMS.txt`. - Uninstalling keeps your settings, profiles, logs and reports in `%AppData%\FARIS Toolkit`. ## Validation status - This package updates release labels and documentation; it does not add toolkit functionality. - Method-body comparison preserves command logic, with only the version display precision changed. Installer compilation, archive integrity and version metadata are checked. - Updated 20 October 2026: the final package was exercised on an existing workstation, not a clean Windows installation. Revit 2024.3.60 Self-Test reported 38 passed and one sleeve-placement failure. Revit 2025.5 reported 39 passed, but Project Setup separately produced a browser-classification warning. Both Self-Test summaries count an unexercised linked-model case as passed. Full command coverage and clean-install validation remain incomplete. See https://farisdaexplorer.com/docs/toolkit-1-0-release-review. - The older 57-test source project does not verify this release. ## Good to know - Works offline. No account, and no data is sent anywhere. - Preview, confirmation and undo behavior vary by command. Check the instructions and test on a model copy. - Please test on a copy of a model before using the toolkit on live, workshared or cloud projects. - Revit 2023 and Revit 2026 are not supported by this package. ## Licence and support Freeware: free for personal and commercial use, no redistribution, no warranty (see LICENSE.txt). Questions or problems: post on the Ideas board at https://farisdaexplorer.com/community-ideas. Say which Revit version you use, what you did and what happened. The board is public, so please don't post log files, reports or screenshots that show model, project or client names.
